||
|
As we head into the firework season, North Yorkshire Police is reminding residents to celebrate safely and responsibly to help keep our communities safe. Fireworks can be enjoyed by people of all ages, but if used carelessly they can cause serious injuries, fires, distress to pets and livestock, and nuisance to neighbours. Stay Safe✅ Always buy fireworks from a reputable retailer and ensure they carry the appropriate safety markings. ✅ Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully and never return to a firework once it has been lit. ✅ Keep fireworks in a closed box and away from children. ✅ Light fireworks at arm's length using a taper and stand well back. ✅ Never throw fireworks or use them in public places. ✅ Keep pets indoors where possible and create a safe, calm space for them during displays. ✅ Have a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of an emergency. Be ConsiderateMany people, including young children, elderly residents, military veterans, and pet owners, can find fireworks distressing. Please be mindful of your neighbours and: Report ConcernsIf you witness anti-social behaviour involving fireworks, or fireworks being used recklessly or dangerously, please report it to North Yorkshire Police via our website or by calling 101. In an emergency, or if there is an immediate risk to life or property, always call 999. Let's work together to ensure everyone can enjoy the celebrations safely and responsibly this firework season. #FireworkSafety #CommunitySafety #NorthYorkshirePolice #BeResponsible 🚔🎇 | ||
